The Socialist Mutual benefit society does not restrict its sphere of action just to Belgium. It plays an active role in debates, prepares and promotes its opinion on various subjects aiming to maintain, defend and preserve health insurance systems and united social protection at both Europ an Commission and European Parliament level. So, the The Socialist Mutual benefit society is a founding member of the International Association of Mutual Benefit Societies (www.aim-mutual.org), the International Social Security Association (www.issa.int) and Social Economy Europe (www.socialeconomy.eu.org).

International

The Socialist Mutual benefit society also operates in the area of international cooperation aiming at improving healthcare access in developing countries through its direct support to two main NGOs : SOLSOC - Solidarité Socialiste (Frenchspeaking – www.solsoc.be) and FOS – Fund for Cooperation and Development (Dutch speaking – www.fos-socsol.be).

The Socialist Mutual benefit society is also involved in mutual societies development and support programs in several countries in Africa and South America and the International Labour Office STEP program.
